Will I need to register a domain name?

You will need a unique domain name that relates to your business. e.g. www.mysite.ie or www.mybusinessname.com etc.

To purchas a .ie domain name you must have a CRO No. (Companies Registration Office Number). You obtain this from the CRO Office when you register your business.

There is an annul charge for domain names.  We can organise this for you or you can purchse your domain name youself.


I already have a domain name, can I buy a SilverLining Web Design website?

Yes. Simply let us know and we can organise getting your domain name to point to our servers.


Do I own my domain name if I register it with SilverLining Web Design?

Yes, we simply take the hassel out of the process by ordering your domain name for you. You are the legal owner of your domain name.


How do I access my emails?

You can access your emails from any computer with internet access. You simply log in via webmail. You type into the browser address bar: http://mail.mysite.com/. Email accounts all work with Outlook or Thunderbird mail clients. Feel free to contact us if you need any assistance setting up your mail clients. You can also have all your emails forwarded to another account if you already have one set up.


What is hosting?

Hosting is the space you rent on a server(computer), the computer which holds your website so it can be accessed 24hours a day anywhere in the world.


Can I host my webiste elsewhere?

Yes, you can host your webiste elsewhere.


What is the difference between a domain name and hosting?

A domain name is your website address. eg. www.mywebsite.ie It's what people type into the browser address bar when they are going to view your website.
